Chenab Bridge ke inauguration ke baad, jaane India ke 10 iconic bridges ke baare mein jo sirf engineering marvel nahi balki tourism ke bhi star attractions hain.
Jammu & Kashmir ke Reasi district mein bana Chenab Bridge, duniya ka sabse uncha railway bridge ban chuka hai. PM Narendra Modi ne 6 June 2025 ko isse officially dedicate kiya. Yeh 359 meter ki height par bana hai – Eiffel Tower se bhi 35 meter zyada uncha! Aur iska length 1315 meter hai. Is bridge ki ek aur khaas baat hai ki yeh 266 km/h tak ki wind speed aur 8 magnitude tak ke bhukamp ko bhi survive kar sakta hai. Iska total cost ₹1486 crore hai. Lekin sirf Chenab hi nahi, India mein kai aur bridges bhi hain jo equally majestic aur record-breaking hain.

1. Bandra-Worli Sea Link (Mumbai)

Yeh 5.6 km lamba cable-stayed bridge Mumbai ke Bandra aur Worli ko connect karta hai. Pehle jo journey 1 ghanta leti thi, ab sirf 10 minute mein ho jaati hai. Is bridge mein 56,000 haathiyon ke barabar ka weight uthane wali steel ka use hua hai. Iski cables agar jodi jaayein toh Earth ke circumference ke barabar length ban jaayegi! Is par walking, 2-wheeler aur 3-wheeler allowed nahi hai.

2. Pamban Bridge (Tamil Nadu)

Yeh Bharat ka pehla vertical-lift railway bridge hai, jo Rameswaram ko mainland se jodta hai. 2.08 km lamba yeh bridge 72.5 meter ka vertical lift span rakhta hai jo sirf 5 minute mein uth jaata hai – bina manpower ke. High wind alert ke liye automatic signal system bhi laga hai jo 50 km/h se zyada wind speed pe red signal activate karta hai.
3. Double Decker Root Bridge (Meghalaya)

Yeh ek living root bridge hai jo rubber tree roots se bana hai. Cherrapunji se 45 km trek karna padta hai is tak pahunchne ke liye. Is bridge ko banne mein 25 saal lage, aur yeh ek saath 50 logon ka weight le sakta hai. Yeh 500 saal tak tik sakta hai – ek prakritik engineering ka chamatkar !
4. Howrah Bridge (Kolkata)

Iska asli naam Rabindra Setu hai. 1943 mein public ke liye open kiya gaya yeh bridge kisi bhi nut-bolt ke bina bana hai! Yeh cantilever bridge duniya mein apni tarah ka 6th largest hai. Yeh 705 meter lamba aur 21.6 meter chauda hai, aur Hugli river ko cross karta hai.
5. Ram Jhula (Rishikesh)

Ganga par bana yeh suspension bridge 1986 mein complete hua. Yeh 220.4 meter lamba aur 2 meter chauda hai. 44 mm diameter ke 24 steel ropes par yeh tike hue towers kaafi majboot hain. Initially iska naam Shivānand Jhula tha.
6. Laxman Jhula (Rishikesh)

Yeh 1929 mein bana aur pehla suspension bridge tha Uttarakhand mein. Yeh 124 meter lamba hai aur pehle jeeps tak allowed thi. Lekin ab yeh bridge security reasons ki wajah se close kar diya gaya hai. Yeh bridge yog nagari Rishikesh ka ek historic symbol hai.
7. Singshore Bridge (Sikkim)

Yeh Asia ka doosra sabse uncha suspension bridge hai – 198 meter ucha aur 240 meter lamba. Yeh western Sikkim ki pahadiyon mein bana hai aur bahut hi scenic location mein situated hai. Yeh ek major tourist attraction bhi ban gaya hai.
8. Ram Setu

Yeh 48 km lamba limestone ka prakritik pul hai jo India ko Sri Lanka se jodta hai. Ramayana ke anusaar, yeh pul Ram ji ne Lanka jaane ke liye banwaya tha. Is bridge ko lekar scientific aur religious dono tarah ki debates chali aati hain. 1480 tak yeh samudra ki surface ke upar dikhai deta tha.
9. Annai Indira Gandhi Road Bridge (Pamban)

Yeh bridge NH-49 ko Rameswaram se jodta hai. 2.34 km lamba yeh bridge 1988 mein open hua tha. Iske neeche ships easily pass kar sakte hain. Yeh Pamban Rail Bridge ke bilkul parallel bana hai.
10. Saraighat Bridge (Assam)

Yeh Brahmaputra par Assam ka pehla road-cum-rail bridge tha, jo 1962 mein complete hua. Iski length 1492 meter hai aur yeh 7.3 meter wide hai. Yeh bridge northeast India ko mainland se connect karta hai – ek economic aur cultural lifeline.
